What reminds your children about Allah?

PicMonkey CollageAt Sanad Prep when we plan a field trip, our objective is to ensure that our students not enjoy themselves, but also remain students of knowledge while they make an effort to connect to their creator by observing His creation. This week Sanad Prep students took a trip to Gumbo Limbo Nature Center which is a facility that increases public awareness of coastal and marine ecosystems. Before we left for the field trip, we instructed our students to be on their best behavior. We reminded them that the best form of dawah is through their actions and so, it is important that they are polite to the people at the nature center and they thank them for their service before leaving. Ustadh Rehan also advised students to give due respect to each creature of Allah that they observe at the facility. We had also asked them to discover one thing that reminds them of Allah.

At the end of the day, the students shared their discoveries and we were fascinated by their ability to connect things at a much deeper level.  One of the students gave an example of how Lion Fish were not meant to be in Florida’s ecosystem and now it has become a major issue since the lion fish reproduces rapidly and is a threat to many of the fish that protect Florida’s coral reef. He connected this example to how Allah has created everything in a perfect balance and if humans attempt to disrupt that balance, they only end up harming themselves.  We hope to continue to provide similar learning experiences for all of our students in the future.  If you get a chance, please do ask your child about his or her experiences in the world around them. We are sure, you will learn many new facts and be fascinated as well.
