The Praised One

My heart needs to gaze at him, and his eyes
And I could only ever walk in front of him
If I ever knew
That when I walked in front of him
I could gaze in front of me
Knowing that the gaze of his gaze would gaze upon me
Ya Muhammad

I sense a heart beat

I sense a heart beat
And it's my heart beating
The beating my heart has taken
To be waiting
While waking
In a world that's still sleeping
What does it need then?

What does it need?
My heart simply needs
The love of the one whom Allah loves
The voice of the one
Whose once voiceless voice
Transcended the sound of voices
That were once just noises
And yet those voices became one
La ilaaha illAllah
Muhammad al-Rasoolullah
Sallallaahu Alaihi Wassalam

Ya Muhammad
Your light outshines
The light this world knows
The bright
The pure bright light
That would shine, light from your palms

Ya Allah
May You bless us with the sight of this light
And Your light
One day, when we pray, the might of this light
Will be raised for our palms
Insha'Allah

Yet still
Many would say that these words go too far
To elevate our prophet to this rank
Would be to be put into the ranks
Of the religious that went too far

How little different are they
From the hypocrites of the prophet's time

How different would they be?
If they could see how he was?
How would they behave
If they saw mountains crumble
When the weight of waiting
For the words from God
was laid into his palms
And praise of this man goes too far?

How different would they be?
If they could see what he went through
The strength he had to bury his sons
When fathers struggle now just to raise theirs
Let alone grave them
Engrave him
Engrave this in your hearts
That what he went through
Deserves all this praise and more

Ya Ahmed
Ya Muhammad
Is he not the praised one after all?
Where after all here, and hereafter
He will stand for you and me
And this praise goes too far?

I pray these words are not hollow
They seem full but somehow still weak
I'd probably spend a week
Trying to find a better way to word this
But at some point I accepted
That no matter how eloquent or not
These words may seem
These words are simply intention without action
And that on its own is hollow
So my ask for you all,
Is that when we leave today
We don't follow the sunnah because we live
But we live the sunnah because we follow

Allahumma salli a'laa sayyidina muhammad
Wa a'laa aalihi wa sahbihi wassalam
Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullah

For the Beloved ﷺ

How the night was bright, and angels sang,
A light appeared, from which all sprang.

صلى الله عليك رسول الله
Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah.
Mercy sent, was a gift so true,
The world found hope when it found you.

يا حبيب الله، يا أمل الأمة
O Beloved of Allah, O hope of the Ummah.
Your smile, it was gentle, your words a cure,
A truth so eternal, oh forever pure.

اقرأ باسم ربك الذي خلق
“Read, in the Name of your Lord who creates.”
In each prayer, your name we say,
While hearts grow soft, our sins decay.

يا رسول الله شوقنا إليك عظيم
O Messenger of Allah, our longing for you is supreme.
So let our souls be near your side,
In hope and love, with tears we cried.

يا حبيب الله، نور قلوبنا ودليلنا
O Beloved of Allah, the light of our hearts and our guide.
